The N64's CPU is a 64-bit VR4300 (based on MIPS R4300i) running at 93.75 MHz, capable of 125 MIPS/93.75 MFLOPS and was produced by NEC. For North America the N64 first became available there to buy on 26th September 1996 but Europeans would have to wait until 1st March 1997 to experience Nintendo's new console.
